the surgical ‘nose job’
is not a vanity procedure

Contrary to what many people assume, the surgical ‘nose job’ is not a vanity procedure. Keep in mind that your face is part of the first impression, which is why many people are unhappy about their nose. It’s not uncommon for people to be unhappy about their nose’s shape, size, contour, and symmetry. If you don’t like how your nose looks, you can change its appearance via rhinoplasty nose surgery..

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular facial surgeries available today. It is a procedure aimed at correcting and restoring the shape of the nose to improve its appearance, facilitate the respiratory process, and other purposes.

Many people undergo Rhinoplasty nose reshaping surgery for different reasons, including correcting a nose that looks bulbous, upturned, hooked or droopy, fixing nostrils that are too wide, too large, or turning upward, and getting rid of noticeable dips or bumps on the bridge of the nose.

For others, rhinoplasty can help make the nose look smaller or bigger to create facial balance and open blocked passages.

How does Nose Surgery work?

Unlike other surgical procedures, rhinoplasty doesn't have a defined series of steps. However, an anaesthetic will be applied, which typically depends on how complex the surgery is.

Rhinoplasty can be done through the nose (closed rhinoplasty) or an incision at the base of your nose between your nostrils (open rhinoplasty). The Rhinoplasty surgeon then raises the skin covering the nasal bones and cartilage.

Your surgeon may add, remove, or adjust the underlying bone and cartilage based on your goals. The surgeon will use small dissolvable stitches to secure the skin in place at the end of the procedure.

Who is a Rhinoplasty Nose Job for?

You may be a candidate for rhinoplasty if you desire to:

• Increase or decrease the size of your nose
• Alter the shape or size of the tip of your nose
• Make the nose straighter
• Remove a bump from the bridge of the nose
• Alter the size of the nostrils
• Build up a nose that seems too flat
• Flattening out a nose that seems too pointed
Additionally, you may need rhinoplasty for the following:
• Breathing problems (often to blame for this is a distorted septum in the nose)
• Snoring
• Frequent nose bleeding
• Nose deformities (congenital and acquired)

If you are unhappy about your nose, rhinoplasty can help fix whatever issues. At Ivanchuk's Plastic Surgery Clinic, we boast a wealth of experience and glowing reviews. Call our office to schedule your consultation.

Quick Info

Closed Rhinoplasty

This is a more complex operation than Open Rhinoplasty, but a minimally invasive, more aesthetic result is achieved without stitches on the outer part of the nose. The result of Closed Rhinoplasty is changes in nose size, nostrils and correct nose symmetry, as well as a faster recovery period (compared to Open Rhinoplasty)

Septoplasty

Septoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that reduces or eliminates nasal airway obstruction by modifying the septum. The septum is an anatomical structure in the nose that separates the two nostrils. Septoplasty is typically performed to correct a deviated septum, which occurs when one side of the septum extends more than the other side and blocks airflow through one or both of the nose’s openings.

Secondary Rhinoplasty

Secondary Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that is done to enhance the appearance of the nose. It may be done as part of an ongoing treatment plan or after other procedures, such as Rhinoplasty or septoplasty, have been performed. This procedure can be either open or closed, depending on the Rhinoplasty surgeon’s preference and the patient’s needs. Most patients undergo this procedure to remove scar tissue caused by previous surgeries, reduce a bump on the bridge of their nose that may have occurred during a prior procedure and improve their overall symmetry.
